The Rand Building

14 Lafayette Square

The Rand Building was designed by architects Franklyn & William Kidd as well as James W Kideney & Associates. At the time of construction it was built to house the growing technological capabilities of radio and telephone. Named after George Rand, the building is said to be the inspiration for the Empire State Building. The Rand Building stands as the third tallest building in Buffalo, NY. It was featured in the popular film "Bruce Almighty" and is a staple in the Buffalo skyline.
